El Paso-Gridley girls garner HOIC victory

COLFAX — A good start helped push El Paso-Gridley to a 59-42 Heart of Illinois Conference girls’ basketball victory over host Ridgeview on Monday.
The Titans doubled Ridgeview’s output in the first quarter and outscored the Mustangs in each of the last three periods, as well, for the league win. EPG led 16-8 after the opening lap and was up by a 34-22 count at the half. The margin grew slightly, to 46-32 through three frames.
Myli Ehrhardt led El Paso-Gridley (4-3, 1-0) with 23 points and 9 rebounds. She also made 6 steals and dished out 4 assists. Edie Stauter contributed 11 points and 7 boards while Sloan Gentes tossed in 10 points. Lily Wettstein collected 9 points and 7 boards. Sophie Hinthorne, Morgan Patten and Kathleen Ioerger scored 2 points apiece.
Claire Edwards led Ridgeview (3-5, 0-1) with 13 points. Abrielle Cavinder scored 9 points with Lily Sandage adding 7. Kamryn Rinkenberger checked in with 7 points and 7 rebounds.
Fieldcrest 61, LeRoy 56
At LeRoy, the host Panthers found a groove in the third quarter and road the wave to a 61-56 victory over Fieldcrest in a Heart of Illinois Conference game Monday.
The Knights got off to a good start by tallying 24 points in the first quarter. Although LeRoy outscored FHS 11-10 in the second, Fieldcrest still led 34-26 at the intermission.
The Panthers came out hit in the third period and outscored the Knights 20-8 to take control of the contest.
Terilynn Timmerman poured in a game-high 24 points for Fieldcrest. Pru Mangan added 16 points and Macy Gochanour chipped in 11.
Parker Mann led LeRoy with 19 points. Kendyl Spratt added 14.
Cissna Park 42, Prairie Central 24
At Fairbury, Cissna Park got rolling when Addison Lucht got hot. The senior did most of her damage in the middle two periods to lead the Timberwolves to a 42-24 nonconference tilt at Prairie Central.
The Hawks didn’t get off to a fast start, but they did lead 5-4 after the first quarter. Lucht got hot, hitting three 3-pointers in the second frame to kickstart Cissna Park.
The visitors led 19-10 at the half and went up 31-18 after three periods. Lucht scored 18 points in the middle two frames and finished with a game-high 21 points.
Addi Donley led Prairie Central (2-6) with 8 points. Cadyn Pride, Alaina Ricketts and Kori Buscher scored 3 points apiece. Alexis Donovan, Abi Nimbler and Adrianna Cutrell chipped in 2 points apiece and Jayla Hammond scored 1 point.
