DWIGHT — Kayden Wood saved his best for last as he led a balanced Dwight attack in the fourth quarter that lifted the Trojans to a 66-60 nonconference boys’ basketball victory over Wilmington on Wednesday.

Dwight found itself trailing its former Interstate Eight Conference rival by seven points heading into the final eight minute-period. The Wildcats were up 49-42 and had momentum after outscoring DTHS 24-16 in the third frame.

The Trojans responded with their own 24-point effort in the last stanza. The hit hand belonged to Wood. Dwight had five players score in the period but it wasWood’s eight markers that proved to be the difference.

Wilmington led 19-10 after the first lap, but DTHS rebounded to hold a 26-25 edge at the intermission.

Joe Duffy led the Trojans (15-11) with 14 points while Joey Starks and Evan Cox each tallied 12 markers. Collin Bachand hit for 11 points and Wood finished with 8. Trevor Jensen scored 6 points and Jackson Launius added 3 to complete the scoring.

Four players reached double figures for Wilmington (17-9).

Dwight will host Woodland in a Tri-County Conference contest on Friday.
